Reflective Sarah

For Liam's 10th birthday he wanted a night in New York City with me. We talked about this trip for months and hemmed and hauled over what to do or where to go. We considered doing a trip to Jamaica to one of the all inclusive resorts before finally settling on a night in New York City together.  We booked the actual trip the week before. We took the Amtrak from Harrisburg to New York City which was extremely convenient. There is a parking lot just under the bridge from the train station which cost only $6 a day!  We booked a hotel on priceline but in the future I will just book with the hotel directly to use my Hilton honors points.  When we got into the city we went to our hotel to drop off our suitcase and we were fortunate enough to be able to check in early we relaxed for a few minutes before we headed off towards times square and then the world trade center memorial.  While we were in times square we went to the tkts window to get Broadway tickets out of discoun...

Liam just came up and hugged me and said, "I love you 500 times more than you think I do". My heart ❤️ 

He is 9. He is so vlose to 10. So close to teenage life. And yet still just as close to first grade. After school he plays football for an hour, throwing the ball ro himself and practicing running plays. He loves flights and memories flight paths. His knowledge of sports statistics amazes me.  Yet what I love most is his dear, tender, private heart. The part of him that walks me to my car in the mornings, and then runs along as I drive away. The part of him that tries to jump through my open car window for hugs in the afternoon.  The part of him that unquestionably wraps his arms around Sam when Sam toddles near him or tries to climb on him. I love that he is growing to be so independent and yet still is my little man. He still sometimes sleeps in my room. I have a King sized bed so we have plenty of space.  But I love that I'm his safe space. That I give him comfort and protection that allows him to sleep so deeply that he snores. 

It snowed last weekend so our daytrip was postponed to Friday. We all had off for spring break so it was a perfect opportunity to head to Baltimore for the Aquarium!  Liam handled the navigation to the city. Sam loved the bubbles in the aquariums, but was not a huge fan of the fish :) Liam really liked the shark exhibit. I liked the dolphin area. They are no longer doing dolphin shows so it's a peaceful place to sit and watch the dolphins swim. We ate lunch at the aquarium.  It was delicious! 

Liam and I have the stomach bug that Sam had two days ago. Liam is a little sluggish and sleepy. He just started crying and said how scared he was for me to die. He said "I don't know what I'll do when you die. I'll be so sad. You fill me up in all my weak spots. When I'm sad, you're here for me. When I get teased and bullied at school you love me. I don't know how to live without you." 💔  Oh my sweet boy... loving him is such a gift.
