No Day Shall Erase You

It has been four years since one of the hardest days of my life. The day of my D&C, after what was the most traumatic, medically and emotionally, miscarriages that I had experienced up to that point. I really believed they would find a heartbeat that morning. Deep in my heart I had that hope, I didn't feel like she was gone. Yes I already thought of her as a she, the baby was already real in my mind and in my heart, and in the minds and hearts of my family. Exactly one week before, I was doing laundry in my house, carrying a laundry basket up two flights of stairs, while my three-year-old son yelled after me "mommy, you can't do laundry, you have a baby in your belly!" And I remember as I walked up the stairs hearing his words, hearing my grandmother's voice in his voice, wondering why I heard her, chuckling to myself that maybe she was there. It was her birthday, after all. But there was no heartbeat and the D&C went on as scheduled and I came home bro...

Thoughts on the Betsy Ross flag

When I look at my genealogy, I find people with various stories. I see a family in Baltimore in a house holding ten people. I see a man who declares he is from "Bavaria", a woman whose husband died the year before leaving her to raise her children alone. I see my great-grandmother, who came here from Germany at sixteen on her own, and the first Pearce, a man who came as an indentured servant on one of the first ships to Maryland. What I don't see is anyone who was a slave. And I say that with the pride I have in knowing each of my ancestors' stories. I say that because to have a history of slavery means to have had a family history that was lost. And when I consider that loss, when I consider that realization of the suffering of some peoples' ancestors at the hands of a willfull nation, I understand the resentment some hold towards the Betsy Ross flag. I love my nation, with all of its road bumps, hiccups, and horrible parts of history included. Our constitution...

Testimony 2/28

Today I want to talk about God's grace. This is Liam, my son, finally a big brother. And that onesie is going to his baby brother, a child who is not mine. I have lost six babies. I have bought three other "Big Brother" shirts, in other sizes, and had to throw them out. I have been told "let's wait and see", "we can pray", or worst of all, "there's no heartbeat" too many times.  I have wept. I have grieved the loss of tiny hands I'll never hold, and smiles I've never seen. For those of us who have experienced fertility problems or miscarriages, we know that loss is deeply personal. It's so easy for the enemy to tell us, "we aren't good enough", "we don't deserve it", "we can't do it". It was those struggles, and that darkness, which ruined my marriage of eleven years. When I started coming to Foursquare three years ago, I came at the end of my marriage. My husband had fallen in l...

Chickpea Chocolate Chip Dip!

From  https://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2011/05/23/want-to-eat-an-entire-bowl-of-cookie-dough/  1 1/2 cups chickpeas or white beans (1 can, drained and rinsed very well) (250g after draining) 1/8 tsp plus 1/16 tsp salt just over 1/8 tsp baking soda 2 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/4 cup nut butter of choice (If you use peanut butter, it will have a slight pb cookie dough taste, so if you don't want this, try the  Deep Dish Cookie Pie , unbaked. instead) up to 1/4 cup milk of choice, only if needed Sweetener of choice (see note below, for amount) 1/3 cup chocolate chips or  sugar free chocolate chips 2-3 tbsp oats or flaxmeal Instructions Add all ingredients (except for chocolate chips) to a good food processor, and process until very smooth. Then mix in the chocolate chips. (Some commenters have had success with a blender, but I did not. Try that at your own risk, and know the results will be better in a high-quality food processor such as a Cuisi...

Sunday thoughts

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. Isaiah 1:27 find this quote to really correlates what's going on in the world today where people are turning away from religion and yet still pointing fingers. They're blaming the immigrants they're blaming the people who are separated from their kids and that they're not loving them the way that God has taught us to love people and I just wish that God would surely bring his spirit and his grace
